I’d been in Athens for a week, so I was well past-due to check out the Acropolis. Lucky for me, the weather was warm and sunny that day, with clear visibility all the way to the ocean. The Acropolis is a complex of several ancient buildings situated at the top of a rocky outcrop with a 360 degree view of Athens. It has been undergoing reconstruction since 1975 and is nearly complete. For the 10 euro price of entrance, you get access to meander through the entire complex as well as the slopes. Plan to spend 2-3 hours so you can explore everything without feeling rushed. When you visit, be on the lookout for some of the Acropolis’ resident cats!
