Terracotta Army

Xi’an, Shaanxi, China

One of the oldest cities in China, Xi’an, is probably most well-known for the Terracotta Army that was first unearthed there in 1974, and somewhat less known for the 6,500-year-old Banpo Neolithic village discovered in 1953. Each of these archeological sites has its own museum, and both can be visited on a day trip from the city.

While there, I stayed at the Xiangzimen International Youth Hostel. It had the coolest brick platform beds!

I wish I could have spent more time in this city, as I only had one day. If I ever return I’ll be sure to ride a bicycle around the city wall!
